This project was a conglomeration of re-writing SQL statements from MySQL to Postgres, and then redeveloping the Tableau workbooks and dashboards after (in priority order).
This included (as a top priority) the redevelopment of the huge main published report used primarily for quarterly reporting.
This report is crucial to Xenzone's business as it demonstrates to the stakeholders (regional NHS managers / Councils) the progress made during that period. There are a large number of KPI's, statistics, charts and grids that quantify the key areas of the services provided. In short, it justifies the money the councils spend.
This report (originally a desktop file that had to be manually adjusted each quarter and then saved as individual PDF's for approval before a final run) had been translated to an automated version using a variety of area specific filters and then published. When the new platform came online, the main report had to be ready (I was put on a 2 week notice for the go live date) with the new Postgres data structure. This was unit and user tested and deployed on time.
The main report that I had redeveloped meant that all RSM's assumed ownership and were in charge of producing their own reports, as opposed to the original process of the BI team producing the output. Workshops were held where necessary and I set up a dedicated Slack channel to discuss and advise on any issues or confusion.
After the expected initial concerns from users that were experiencing this culture change, they all (at varying speeds) became used to the new way or working and came to appreciate the fact that they were no longer dependent on others to provide their reports. This meant they could pre-empt things by running reports early and observing any issues about data at a much earlier time.
